Completing the Employee Application

This document outlines the employee application process and type of content you will be required to provide when completing the application.

Activating Your Account / Login

  • Go to https://growyourown.ohio.gov/application.
  • If this is your first time using the employee portal, you will need do set your password. Otherwise, you may continue
    • Enter your email address
    • Within 2 minutes you will receive a verification code from GYO. Enter the code into the verification c
    • If your code is correct, you’ll be asked to enter a new password.
    • Select a password that is 8 or more characters, has lowercase, uppercase, at least one number, and one
    • When your password is valid, you can then click ‘Continue’
    • This activates your account and sets your password. You can now proceed to step 3.
  • Enter your email address then click Continue.
  • Enter the validation code sent to your email address then click Continue.
  • The portal is now open. You will see the GYO application for you to complete.

Contact information will be completed by the district but may be updated by the employee.

    Teacher Specifications

    Candidates must identify their areas of interest. The school district has identified their areas of need that are displayed in red.

    Candidates must identify the teacher prepara on program or community college they plan to attend and the semester in which they will begin.

    Candidates must include a statement of why they would like to become a teacher.

    Candidates can link to a resume or upload a resume.

    Acknowledge Requirements

    Program participants must acknowledge program requirements prior to submitting.

    • I have not plead guilt to, been conviceted of, or adjudicated a delinquent child for any violation listed in section 3333.38 of the ORC. (True / False)
    • I will file a statement of service status in compliance with section 3345.32 of the ORC. (True/False)
    • I understand that I must complete the FAFSA within thirty (30) days of receiving my acceptance letter in order to receive a GYO Teacher scholarship. (True/False)
